Following a meeting held yesterday at the University, Kyambogo lecturers have decided to distance themselves from the marking of examination scripts and supervision of internship unless they are paid all outstanding salaries by the University management.
“Kyambogo University has over 750 lecturers of which the biggest percentage is made up of part time lecturers. It is however surprising that the University management passes a salary every moment to the full time staff and ignores the part time lecturers,” Dr. Lubaale, the chairperson of the Academic Staff Association asserted.
Our sources also indicate that the part time lecturers have not been paid since January this year. Dr. Lubaale declared that he has been contacting the Vice Chancellor to pay the lecturers since it is on budget.
“We held two meetings with the management but nothing has happened. Staff has therefore been advised to go home and only return when they are paid,” Dr. Lubaale declared.
We shall keep you posted.
