As the count down goes to three days to the graduation ceremony of Makerere University, some students are not seen anywhere on the graduation list. One of the students who is also among the graduands came out and confessed of how the university is twisting the graduation in one way or another because even her own friends do not appear on the graduation list.
She says seven of her friends have all their marks, some are even first class students but do not appear in the graduation book. “It’s not that they didn’t clear with the university, but the main reason as to why they’re not appearing is not clear.” She says.
According to her, most of the students’ names appeared on the initial college graduation list, they went ahead to pay the graduation fees but when the final graduation list was printed out, their names were missing and nothing has been done up to now to ensure their being on the list.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this but fraud is happening here. Some games are being played and someone is financially benefiting from throwing people off the list. How does someone’s name appear on a college graduation list and doesn’t appear on the university graduation list?” She further questioned.
She claims someone atop is receiving an extra 200,000 that these students paid for their gowns, booklets as graduation fee now that they ain’t on the list and that when the university is asked for an explanation, every office holder says there is nothing they can do.
It has also come to our concern that some students’ names who were not supposed to graduate with retakes appeared on the graduation list yet the ones that who should appear on the list are not there. The university administration has confirmed to the students that even if the don’t appear on the graduation list they will be able to get their transcripts provided they are eligible for them.
