Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Principal, Prof Waswa Balunywa, has cautioned first year students against dangerous vices that may negatively affect their studies.
Among the many warnings, the Head of the institution was point blank on drug abuse.
“When you choose drugs, they will make you run mad if you are lucky and if you aren’t, they will kill you”, he alerted the freshmen.
Prof Balunywa made the remarks during the freshers’ orientation at MUBS main campus in Nakawa.
“They (drugs) can give you a good feeling but will never help you in your studies,” the Prof added.
Prof Balunywa argued that the freshers should desist from drug abuse and HIV if they want to be successful in MUBS.
MUBS has quite an infamous reputation of being a hunting ground for ‘sex predators’ thus the Balunywa’s remarks were spot on.
He further intimated to the new students on the proper way of handling grievances;
More so, Prof Balunywa guided that one should choose a course where they have passion.
“The decision is yours to study. No one is going to come to your hostel to wake you up for lectures. Choose the right friends who will enable you to shape your careers and realize your dreams.”
MUBS first year students reported the previous weekend and are still undergoing the orientation period to prepare them for their stay at the business learning center.
