Students at Makerere University Business will be heading to the polls tomorrow, Thursday, 19th April 2018 to cast their mandate on who their next guild president should be among the 5 candidates. A myriad of students however are still at cross roads, wondering which of them is the perfect candidate to earn their choice. We profile the 5 candidates to guide your decision.
1. Brandon Katura.
A second year student of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Brandon Katura also doubles as the out going president of the MUBS Debate society. He attended Makerere College School and Namilyango College School were he was a house prefect and secretary of the debate club. He is also a Sports administrator with Uganda Olympics committee based in Lugogo and will be flying out to Dubai in June for a work shop which he believes to be helpful and essential for the University if he fly’s out as the guild. He is running on the Forum for Democratic Change ticket. His strength is in the leadership experience, his political figure and the numbers since BBA has a great percentage of the total MUBS population
2. Ntende Julius
The Bachelor of International Business (BIB) student has his roots in the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) which is currently the ruling party. Criticised for moving with the current ministers, Ntende seems to have benefited from the popularity of his green party but he is loved for his spectacular grammar and political touch.
3. Mark Hillary Kayongo
Hillary has served in the current regime as a GRC of Bachelors of Science in Marketing and will be running as an independent under the slogan of ” The time is now” He is loved for his manifesto for the finalists.
4. Edson Mugabe
Student of Bachelor of Business Computing and he is an Independent candidate that has come into the race with massive support And huge mobilisation, a commendable political ideology and vast knowledge in the political arena.
5. Bashir Ibanda.
Student of Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Bashir will be running on the yellow ticket and has since kept a low profile during the campaign period.
