After losing the endorsement of both the search committee, Senate and the University Council at Makerere University, Prof Venansius Baryamureeba has released a tough statement disagreeing with the results.

Baryamureeba who was among the three candidates competing for VC, has revealed that the report submitted by the search committee upon which the Senate and University Council based was compromised. In a statement in which he referred to this report as a “total SHAM”, Baryamureeba claims that he has concrete evidence to back up his accusations.

The former Presidential candidate therefore went ahead to reveal that he will never recognize Prof Barnabas Nawangwe as Vice Chancellor elect or even if he turns out to be VC in future, “I therefore shall never recognize Prof Nawangwe as Vice chancellor elect and later as Vice Chancellor of Makerere University” Baryamureeba noted.

The bitter Baryamureeba went ahead to expose Hon. Thomas Tayebwa whom he accuses of being the chief architect in misleading the first lady who also doubles as Minister of Education and sports. According to Baryamureeba, Tayebwa has been involving personal interests to misinform the Council, Senate and other stakeholders in Makerere University VC search process.
On this same matter, Baryamureeba has called upon the government and Makerere visitation committee which was tasked by the President to investigate main problems troubling Makerere, “The visitation committee to Makerere University should interest itself in this matter and so should the government for the good of Makerere University” Baryamureeba cried out.
