Yesterday, a report investigating Makerere Institute of Research [MISR] and Dr Stella Nyanzi, a research fellow at the same institute was released. The report stated that Stella Nyanzi had been found guitly of insubordination and that she was not participating in Research at MISR.
The report also recommended that Dr. Stella Nyanzi’s actions were of gross misconduct and should be subjected to disciplinary action.
Later yesterday, Dr. Stella Nyanzi took to her Facebook timeline to give her honest, measured and well-considered response to the report and findings of the committee that looked into the her case at MISR.
In her Facebook post, Stella Nyanzi says that she protested against the long term lack of responsiveness from all layers of administrative appeal at collegiate and university-wide level, the inertia and indecision of the human resources directorate, and the university management’s neglect of the #RotAtMISR.
“I refuse to return to a violently oppressive work-place where I will continue under Mahmood Mamdani’s misogynistic reign of terror.” ” I am neither apologetic nor remorseful for my protest against Mamdani. I am no longer surprised by the complacent decisions of the lazy, inept and indifferent employers at Makerere University”, she added.
