On Friday, 4th May, H.E. Jothan Yamurebire Burobuto, president Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA) came out to address the on-going Cuban doctors’ importation saga. While attending a handover ceremony at Makerere school of Health Sciences, Burobuto had this to say.

“I want to appeal to you we grew up in a society where doctors and scientists were highly respected. I beseech you please don’t give up now that they are threatening to bring Cuban doctors, don’t change courses to go to arts or law. Hang in there finish your Bachelor of Medicine in whatever field. I assure you, our governments will soon take over. They will show doctors that they are valued and highly loved. The country needs you, don’t leave the country to go in search for greener pastures.”

He called upon students in secondary school to keep heart and continue pursuing science subjects.
