Women’s Day; Some of the most outstanding female students at UCU

As we celebrate women today, Campus Bee decided do a feature of some female campus students that have had significant impact in a number of fields within and outside Uganda Christian University (UCU).

Here is a list of some of the ladies that have had some great achievements and deserve to be celebrated this Women’s Day.

Amongin Prisca.  She is the UCU guild president. She commands power within the university. As a guild president, she holds power over 60 guild officials, and the university student body at large.  She is part of the choir at the university, a sports woman, plays netball. She is an advocate for women rights. She empowers the girl child through ministry with Deborah girls, she is a member of CEDA, and CEWIGO (Center for women in Governance) women empowerment forum.

Amongin Prisca

Isabella Twongyeirwe, is a fourth year law student. She has such beauty that fails description. She is academically brilliant; she is a mooter and has participated in some moot competitions even on an international level right from her first year; she plays the guitar, she sings with such an adorable voice and has even released an Extended Playlist (EP) with her name on Sound Cloud. She is also sportswoman who plays basketball.

Esther Nakamya; is talented. She plays scrabble and is the captain of the university team. She plays chess, and she is also an athlete. She is a Member of Parliament of the Residents in the guild government. She has represented UCU at the East African games last year.

Kamahoro Daphine is a 3rd year Engineering student. She is an academic giant at her faculty, a leader in the UCU engineering association and a professional lawn tennis player. She plays for the university team since her 1st year, and is also captain, who is proud to be the ‘seed one’ the first consideration for any games that the university plays. She has played in the East African games, and participated in a number of tournaments for the university.

“Girls at a tender age should realize their potential, and be go-getters.” she says.

Kamahoro Daphine

Eunice Akidi Aruo. She is a leader at campus, a former member of the guild government, she is the president of the Young Women Leaders Network, she is also the head of CEDA at the university branch.  She has an outstanding relationship with other students at campus.

“I am able to identify the best in women and make them mentors to be admired by other students at campus.” She says.

Her message to the girls out there is that “Girls can do anything that they choose. They should not underestimate themselves.”

Aruo Eunice Akidi

Nyiramutuzo Eleanor. She is a footballer and a goal keeper of the Lady Cardinals and has been on the university team since her first year. Competed in the East African University games, inter-university games, the elite league. She wishes all the women out there a lovely women’s day.
