The Uganda Christian University Mukono non partisan guild presidential elections 2014/2015 are back in full gear. Disunity amongst students at faculty level, treachery and corruption that is within the UCU guild are a few of the grievances been faced by the normal student. So with four contenders already vying for this precious seat, are they in for change or? Campus Bee brings to you your four guild presidential candidates;
“Am the leader am the one with a sense of direction, i’m the one to put them into check.” For the slogan says it all; Excellency without limits.
Kanya is a second year mass communication student bore to Mr and Mrs Kanya 4th born in a family of four and a staunch Christian who upholds the university’s code of conduct.
She does promise to put students as her first priority ensuring at most transparency and accountability through monthly student – guild interactions where the guild officials will publicly be quizzed on matters pertaining both to their actions and finance.
For she does believe leadership is temporary and at one point everyone is accountable for his or her actions since we’re all 18 and above.
A science scholar strolling all the way from the Lango sub region pursuing his degree in nursing second year second semester has come with a three line jotted manifesto; Excellency, unity and togetherness then transparency in the guild Fund.
As first science candidate to vie for this guild presidential post, he does believe that through his slogan; One Big Family Yes We’re he’s ready to act as a bridge between faculties and administration while he advocates for their needs and challenges.
Muhanguzi Andrew
Accountability may be a critical problem which needs urgent remedies, but Andrew is a man of dreams, a man who fell in love with God’s complexity in the creation of this world, he has an eye for beauty say. So he does believe that though the university student community has been faced with various grievances i.e. insecurity for the non residents and lack of intuitive accountability at the guild, it’s a creative and an innovative student community that will help ware out the other problems.
It’s through this creativity and innovative community that UCU will no longer be heard for only its classy law students rather for its entire both science and arts remarkable graduate products in the outside world. Andrew has won many allocates both at school level and national level with his recent being at the 2012 Science Fare. A business administration student, inspired by many to stand, he was a head prefect at high school level, represented at the Uganda National Students Association as the Publicity Secretary and coordinator health club UCU.

It’s only with a combined unified echo that your voice can be heard zillion miles away, it’s through combined effort that prosperity can be attained. Arthur Baliruno a former minister for education at the Law Development Centre, chairperson Kampala secretariat – Students Council, the brain behind the Uganda Inter University Association and former Resident Assistant at campus has indeed come up to break barricades between administration – student relation, faculty to faculty demulsifying propaganda and with him as the unifying factor worry not, for he does believe UCU as a community will eventually be one all away from the Law – Business side to the Tech park Science and Technology side and all trouble commotion amongst students, guild and administration will cease since love prevails.
