The Kyambogo University National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chapter has today declared Morgan Wycliff Amwesiga, a scholar of Procurement and Logistics Management as its flagbearer ahead of this year’s guild elections. The election went down at Kyambogo’s students center, where several scholars converged to see the next NRM representative ahead of the highly anticipated guild elections.
A total of 31 NRM delegates in Kyambogo voted Amwesiga as their flag bearer while 6 voted for Nalukenge Precious. Shortly after the voting exercise, the outgoing NRM flag bearer Tayebwa Jonathan handed over the flag to Amwesiga amid cheers from NRM diehards.
While speaking to Campus Bee, Amwesiga vowed to kick NUP out of Kyambogo University ahead of a calculated approach set to be rolled out throughout the Banda-based university.
“We have been having a slavery government that has made students slaves whereby NUP has been dividing us. The Ministers are fighting with GRCs, the GRCs are no longer caring about the students. Majority of students are applying for missing marks, retakes which is unnecessary just because the GRCs went to the government and made students slaves.” Amwesiga said before promising to kick NUP out of Kyambogo.
The determined Amwesiga further told Campus Bee that unlike in the previous elections, his candidature is being backed by a unified NRM party that doesn’t look at tribe or region. He believes that with such a team, NRM will secure power come February 2022.
Meanwhile, Nalukenge, who lost to Amwesiga revealed that she will not run as an independent despite the loss. According to her, she will support Amwesiga in his plans to secure NRM lost glory in Kyambogo University.
