A section of Makerere University students have castigated their guild president Shamim Nambassa claiming that she switched sides from National Unity Platform (NUP) and joined the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“Shamim used NUP. She has now joined NRM to solicit support for her UNSA presidential race,” Martin (pseudonym) said.
The criticism comes after Makerere University’s 5th female guild president met NRM’s Emmanuel Dombo and Okot Boniface, the youth member of parliament for northern Ugandan.
Shamim Nambassa who was accompanied by the 87th guild speaker Gatuya Mucyo met Honourable Emmanuel Dombo and Okot Boniface on Thursday April 21st, 2022.
According to a tweet by Gatuya Mucyo, the meeting was intended to invite the duo to the Makerere home coming alumni dinner scheduled for Thursday 12th May, 2022.
Attempts to reach Shamim Nambassa for a comment on the allegation that she has joined NRM were futile as she didn’t respond to our call.
Makerere University’s 87th guild president has recently been visiting and inviting the institution’s former prominent students to the Home coming alumni dinner.
