The management of Kampala International University (KIU) have issued strict warning to students who failed to follow what the management decided as regards examinations. As the institution was closing following President Museveni’s directive, a senior management meeting was conducted to discuss ways of how their students can continue with learning by use of their e-learning platform.
Last week, all students pursuing studies from KIU Main campus and those from the Western Campus were availed with soft copy notes for one month on the University’s e-learning platform by their respective Schools.
Dr. Jonas Tusiimire the assistant Deputy Vice Chancellor for academics and research said that this has to be implemented by all schools regardless of any complainants from students.
“All schools are fully and actively engaging students through our e-learning platforms to make sure learning is not severely interrupted. We continue to advise our students to stick to Ministry of Health safety guidelines to avoid falling victim to Coronavirus.” Dr. Tusiimire clarified.
Davis Ssebayigga, a second-year student of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the Western campus thanked the management for thinking about them in this difficult situation and confirmed that they had received notes on their class WhatsApp group.
“It’s true, the notes were sent to our WhatsApp group and I appreciate the care from the university. Now we can continue reading, even though we are at home,” Ssebayigga, said.
However,a section of students raised complaints saying that they don’t have access to data and some of them do not have smartphones. These were strongly warned by the management to either study or to wait for retakes when they report if they fail to abide by the alternatives that were put in place.
