Mugenyi is a two times winner of this award that recognizes journalists that are doing great in health journalism.

The Heroes in Health (HIHA) Awards is a public-private partnership project instituted in 2019 by the Ministry of Health with the support of Xtraordinary Media.

This is a public choice award, where members of the public nominate and vote their heroes in the Health sector.

The Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng has rallied all health workers to desist from prioritising their interests in money than the lives of people.

Through the Presidents’ speech read by the chief guest, the Vice President Jessica Alupo, she justified the presidential policy of having the salaries of all scientists enhanced.

This was during the awarding ceremony of heroes in health of 2022. The ministry of health asserts that this annual ‘heroes in health’ awards has produced noticeable strides in the sector.

According to the permanent secretary for the ministry, Dr Diana Atwine, the awarding ceremony has proved to be a source of motivation and inspiration to health workers across the country.
