Uganda Christian University (UCU) will hold the first part of her 18th graduation ceremony this Friday, July 7th 2017 at the Mukono Campus. The ceremony will see up to 1,136 students graduating with diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, post graduate diplomas and master’s degrees.
43 students will be walking away with first class degrees with the highest Wani Peter Nicholas, a student who was doing a Bachelors of Public Administration and Management scoring the highest GPA of 4.82. Of these, 12 students will be graduating with a GPA of 4.6 and above. A GPA at UCU starts from 4.40. The list shows that 24 females graduated with a first class while, with 19 males.
The ceremony which will take place at the university new pitch will be honored with the presence of the Auditor General of the Government of Uganda, Mr. John Muwanga, who will be the guest of honor.
On the 6th July, Thursday, a day before the graduation, the students will have a commissioning service at Agape Square, which will be a formal send off session to bless the students as the graduate into the job market. The students will also be given a treat at a buffet dinner at the same square, hours after the service.
The mood at the university is all set. Small tents can be seen in the Mukono campus with graduating students crowding the place to find their best fitting gowns for Friday. Some cannot just bear the excitement of finishing campus.
This first graduation will be proceeded with subsequent graduations that usually take place during the course of the year at the different campuses.
