You are a catholic a Muslim or an Anglican but the traditional church started boring you after you left high school, matter of fact, most of you chaps were bred in Religious Schools, by this, I mean, those Catholic Founded schools and whatnot. But after you got out of those prisons, you left behind everything that you had learnt, the person that attended church thrice a week now does it once a week, benefit of the doubt, you might be busy, fine. The babe that was an alter server, donning long robes now puts on her little black mini with red heels and goes to church. The once a seminarian is hooking up girls in church, taking selfies and saving phone numbers for that lonely Friday night that is close, God isn’t asleep, he is watching you get wasted in His place of Worship, and most times when I tell people that if I were to convert, I would only think of becoming an Atheist if not a Muslim, here is why, you are why and this;
Accept me to use a case of Mavuno Church and Watoto Church Permission granted, and also to use Rubaga Cathedral as I have been to all churches but for different reasons, yes for different reasons, I was like you before my Boss took me to church and told me that there was a better me within. This is my experience, so you had better start listening.
When I was young, I frequented Rubaga Cathedral not because it’s close to home but because I was/am a staunch Catholic but in these traditional/old churches, there are customs you have to abide with, you have to switch off your phone when in Church and you have to dress decently, all this just so you don’t disrupt the motives, intentions and concentration of your neighbour, You go to Church repent, talk to God, give offertory for the betterment of the Church, Holy Communion then grab the final blessing with both hands. Many youths were happy then, there relationship with the creator was close to pure, impurities often exist.
Then there is Mavuno church and Watoto church, in simple terms, the churches of the ‘youthful’, because basically you hardly find a reasonable number of folk above 35. I don’t really know the intention of bringing together youth from different universities, schools, moral standards and work classes to a church with the pretence of Praying, but here is what I know.
A reasonable number of people go to these churches for the wrong reasons, the right reason would be to pray and after prayer, meet a few new people and connect, but what happens is that a girl will go shopping on Saturday night for the perfect Sunday dress (a red mini skirt) and a guy will go look for that CK perfume that his boss uses, all this to impress someone or every one looking.
You go to Mavuno church or Watoto church just so your ex can see that you bought a new car or a new handkerchief because let’s face it, all this shit is just a pinch in the eyes of God, you go to church to hook up a girl because you claim dad said you should get a church girl, so all you do is look at every lady that gets into church, because you take the entrance sit, of course with your boss’ perfume that prolly costs half your salary because you think first impressions means you should smell too good.
Then the ladies put on skimpy dresses as though they are going for a dance, but only, they don’t know how to dance, they use the heels that make them walk like toddlers, I wonder why you walk into church like you suffering from Polio yet clearly it’s mental disturbance all for the sake of making a first impression, baby, you are causing too much attention to yourself and destructing others, can you imagine the trauma people face by mere seeing you walk?
You leave your phone on just so it can go off and people notice you have an S6, instead of listening to your pastor, you are too busy feeding your twitter followers with this nonsense of feminism, writing long posts on face book about how God has abandoned you yet you taking selfies with your one night stand instead of getting on your knees and speaking with God.
So, I pose the big question, why do you go to church? Is it to mock God?
And like I said all that I have said here has been tested, I have been to all these churches but trust me, when at Mavuno or Watoto, I could hardly concentrate. Now you might be asking yourself what a staunch Catholic was doing in Mavuno or Watoto, bruh, I also wanted to do what you do every Sunday in Church, gaze at the ladies, hook up, get a selfie for my Instagram then a number for that Friday or end of month call. Been there, done that, but then, I found myself before I was in too deep; re-organize yourself bro, and stop mocking and cursing God when you are to blame.
