I loved the FDC Presidential debate last night. This can show that FDC can be a model of democracy in Uganda if given the mandate to take charge of this country. They do everything openly, at least there is no this so called “a sole candidate” disease.
It’s where the presidential aspirants can disagree on principle and later shake hands. Both presidential aspirants articulated their issues to my satisfaction EXCEPT on question about the issue of HOMOSEXUALITY. No one (including JPAM) answered it very well and it left me with a lot of speculation.
This is a question that should be posed to all presidential aspirants including H.E Museveni. We need to get their clear position as regards to homosexuality question. They should stop beating around the bush but should clearly tell Ugandans whether they are pro or against homosexuality. If they are scared of how they can answer it let them consult the Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. President Museveni setup an inter ministerial committee Chaired by the Vice President to review the whole homosexuality Bill(once an Act) several month ago but no report has ever been produced. This has also left many Ugandans speculating on the Government position on the question of homosexuality. The reality remains that Homosexuality is not African and should never find its way in Africa. Our leaders should stand firm and bold to protect the interests of Ugandans and Africans in general as regards to the issue of homosexuality no matter the political, social and economic implications.
Otherwise its my dream to see the same presidential aspirants debate happen in NRM and out side.
I salute FDC the organizers of that debate. Its a good step in the right direction.
