Higher education is preferred by all but the question is do all graduates acquire the lives they dreamed of while at universities? Some people come out of university and venture into jobs that is totally different from what they studied. This is not because they don’t want to get in to the field of what they studied but because it is hard to find a good job in your field. Shifrah Kayaga went into a venture to get the sides of those living in this circumstances and this is what they had to say;
For someone who did a Bachelors in Education, Gadaffi Kivumbi ventured into media instead and is currently a court news reporter at UBC TV. He adds that this situation did not happen because his qualification falls into this but because in this time of day jobs are only available with the “ani akumanyi” (Know who?) basis. According to him (Gadaffi), no matter much you passed on merit but without a connection in a certain organisation, you will live to eat dust.
Gaddafi says, “my occupation per now is not alarming as it is working with the media.” He is however not contented as this wasn’t his dream hence still on the hunt for a job under his qualification where he can perform better and return to fulfill a dream he always wanted while at campus.
Fortunately not all is lost for every graduate that leave campus because some of them actually get the jobs in their field of study. Phiina Nakasi, is at the moment a professional accountant working for a big company, her dream looks to be a call away.
“I am a finance manager in Makaayi Land Consultant Company Limited. At least I’m living a fair life though getting this job was stressing as there are employees who prefer using ladies in exchange for the jobs mostly when you want to be employed on merit.” Phiina says.
She adds that she discovered that nowadays getting a job when you are a no body in a certain area is a tag of war you are this left with no option but to struggle living a fair life connected to that you always had in thoughts.
Many graduates end up receiving job callings that they didn’t qualify for. The employment world seems to be loosing value as they employ unqualified graduates who don’t give the jobs the required concentration as their minds are lost in their dream jobs.
