BIC, a world leading consumer brand and Uganda’s leading stationery brand has awarded school fees to five pupils who emerged winners in their just concluded ‘My Super Lockdown Experience’ promotion. The highly competitive promotion was aimed at engaging the school going children in upper primary (P4-P7) to narrate their experience about the long lasting COVID-19 Lockdown.
The winners were today announced by African Queen, Uganda’s leading distributor specializing in importing and distributing fast-moving consumer goods, and BIC’s sole distributor in Uganda. All the five winners walked away with school fees worth $100, which is approximately UGX 366,000.
BIC received a total of 167 entries from different pupils across the country but many were invalid due to a number of reasons like; failure to write on one foolscap, failure to use a ball pen either blue or black, failure to hard write their stories, as well as those who weren’t in the range of P4- P7.
While launching the competition, the Pupils were tasked to write a story explaining their learning, challenges and most importantly the effect it has had on them. The Pupils were marked basing on different criterial including grammar, composition & hand writing.
According to officials from African Queen, he purpose of this consumer promotion was mainly for the brand to support the parent/pupils through provision of school fees to the children ahead of reopening of schools. The promotion, which ran for two months was televised during the home-schooling program on TV and the company’s digital pages.
Representatives from African Queen and BIC including Ivan Manzi, Head of Sales-Marketing & customer service of African Queen, and Richard Mugenyi, BIC’s Associate Sales Manager for Uganda, thanked the winners and also encouraged them to keep using Bic Crystal as they prepare to go back to school.
