If you are like me, you have a tight budget but want a phone that is easy on the eye and works well, the Infinix S2 Pro might just be the phone for you. No need to talk to the gods before you break your bank to buy this Smartphone. I am far from being a “tecchie” so this is basically a common owner’s view.
Design
The S2 Pro is tiny in comparison to its cousins from the Techno family. If you like holding smaller phones, you are in luck because it took some getting used to for me. Once or twice I thought I had dented or damaged one side so terribly. The thing about this design is that the camera is protruding. If you are as careless as me, be extremely careful about where you put your phone before you say a temporary goodbye to your selfies. The S2 Pro is a sleek but slippery phone. It goes without saying the grey/aluminum colour is prone to scratches from anything. Did I say this phone is set up in a way that when you ask for a charger people hesitate because at first sight, they assume you have an I phone?
The volume and power button are on different sides so hurray to taking screenshots like other phone users. The whole looking for Screen Capture option from the display screen was getting tired in my opinion. The Infinix team added a special touch with the fingerprint scanner at the back of the device. I keep watching people react in surprise when I unlock my phone without seemingly touching it.
Camera
I must confess Infinix outdid itself with this front-facing camera. With the ongoing selfie craze, Infinix has done wonders with its “wefies”. Yes, the S2 Pro’s front-facing camera has a wide angle shooter. Hooray to everyone fitting into my party selfies. I keep finding pictures of people in my gallery whenever I leave my phone unlocked. As if that is not enough, no need for my favorite beautifying and editing apps, the phone does everything for me. Taking pictures using the fingerprint scanner at the back of the device is basically perfect. It not only means I get the perfect picture placement and no more selfies with closed eyes but also people keep wondering why they cannot see a timer.
Display
The S2 Pro display is not fully HD. This meant nothing to me until I went outdoors. Of course, I was accustomed to perfect display and found no reason to adjust it to the ultimate brightness. The joke was on me. I was basically blind and had to use my hand as a blocker while standing in a slightly less bright place to restore order.
Battery life
Before most people buy a phone, they question the battery life. After I charged it the first time, I carried my charger the whole day because in my experience, every day I wake up praying my destination will have sockets but my S2 Pro showed me how to reduce the load in my bag. The S2 Pro is extremely fast charging, and almost always lasts a whole day. Honestly, I charge my phone the whole night while I sleep and use it the whole day. If like me, you use Wi-Fi, you will next charge it again at night. While using the usual 3G or 4G network, one would charge it once a day
Performance
Exact specifications are not natural to me but 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage would impress even the toughest of people. I no longer have to constantly delete items, back up and fail to pick up calls because of a frozen phone. I have several unnecessary games and apps in my phone that I constantly get surprised when installing a new app and I have no errors.
I do not know much about sound but each time I use the S2 Pro earphones and adjust the volume to high expecting bass, the result is …well disappointing. I thought it had to be a first time thing but I see no one around me asking to use my earphones anymore. It appears that the earphones alter the audio and the listening experience is not so enjoyable. With the little I know about software, I suppose the fact that Infinix sent all of us Android 7 Nougat updates is amazing.
