In the somewhat blue lit hall, was the marvelous Grand Azania happening once again around the beautifully pelt university, UCU Mukono. No bird dared to whistle, every mammal took heed, stems slightly bent, the beautiful flowery petals unfolded outwards revealing their inner most hearts, even the leaves waved against the winds all just to have a taste of this splendid art.
Every ear stands still, conscious about their next set of waves to pick up, even the passing disturbing breezes wouldn’t deter non from achieving their purpose that evening.
An evening enamoured every foot path was to UCU Mukono’s auditorium, Nkoyoyo hall and foot stride for The Grand Azania where various students where to manifest their talents and showcase prowess in the art of poetry and music. Obviously it being that UCU is a Christian university, the gospel of love and romance was vehemently preached.”Not even the system failure (projector and speakers) can cramp their style.” Ayiko Justus tweeted.
Adile Leonard Ebila’s One Night Stand was truly the facade of the evening where he places the everyday club – party man’s thoughts about sex on a silver plate accompanying it with the bosom touches,-soothing kisses and moaning sounds any receptive mundane woman would experience at the epitome of sex somewhere beneath those soft linen sheets. His sizzling words ignited sparks of pleasure beneath the ladies crotches. Many girls were seen wiggling on their seats, stretched arms out towards Ebila on stage as they shouted out begging for more from this merry poet.
Leo strolls in next with his, Sexless In Keeper a title that raised a lot of controversy in the audience initially until it was recited and finally calm being brought back home. The trio comprising of Mzee Brian Kiira, Jordan and Bruno then followed with World War 3 Love Edition continuously tasking the audience what really happened to love, or what happened to you? Other poets of the evening were, Nyakato Juliet, Kasakya Luke, Kakuhikire Twesigye Borris, Yasmin Ahmed, Joel Basoga and Gloria Kiconco who definitely was the gypsy of the evening.
The exquisite sounds of music where experienced. Samanya Michael left many ladies in the hall slobbering with his well crafted recap of John Legend’s All Of Me truthfully championing the evening obviously as chosen by most revellers who testified he really slammed it with his guitar. Mercy did Ed Sheeran’s Photograph, Rhoda, Claire and Stella doing South African Sondela, a new sight of jazz music was too experienced before climaxing it with UCU’s hip-hop idol, Timothy Code teaming up with Essie Omweshongozi not forgetting the indigenous TCML group that broke bone by bone, twisted arms and wiggled joints to the electric music that played in the background. This group remarkable artistry could be mistaken for late Michael Jackson brake dancing.
It was by and large a comical night first the shutting down of the twitter beam projection because of some tweep’s X-rated profile photo, to the accent moment blended with a little Luganda and finally the comical stunts pulled off by the MC who shunned his job of the night, snared in the moment, hit the stage and started dancing vigorously like there was no tomorrow. Generally it was insurmountable evening of happiness, comprising of the endued poets, singers and congruous audience.
