The management of Busitema University has come out to unveil an implementation strategy that will enable the institution to establish a multi-billion 60,000 seater sports facility.
According to Agnes Masajja, the Games head at the institution, the 150,000 seater stadium will serve the whole Eastern region of Uganda.
“Busitema has already provided the land. It will be done in phases due to financial constraints,” Agnes said.
“We’ve already done the grading and we are in touch with the minister of works,” She added.
According to Paul Wako, the Vice Chancellor, the institution has already started the designing and feasibility study of this great multi-billion complex and says that everything is already incorporated into the University masterplan.
In recent years, different Universities have taken on the spirit of building sports facilities with Makerere unveiling an international netball stadium in 2018 that hosted the world University netball Championship. Kyambogo University followed with a promise of a multi billion stadium which is ongoing in a phased manner.
Busitema is the most recent university coming up to do the same in an effort to improve sports in the whole Uganda.
