Stella Chesang, at just 21 years of age on Monday afternoon clinched a gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth games. Chesang, a graduate of Kyambogo University, is the second athlete to win gold for Uganda after emerging winner of the athletics women’s 10, 000m final.
Born on 1 December 1996, Chesang started as mountain and cross-country runner before changing to flat running.
Although her year of graduation is not yet know, Chesang, according to her IAAF profile, has a Bachelor’s degree in sports science from Kyambogo University and currently works with the Uganda Police Force.
She won the World Mountain Running Championships in 2015 and the Ugandan Cross Country Championships in 2016.
