Kampala University made an unexpected comeback by beating St. Lawrence University through penalties to book a University football league final game with Kyambogo University on Friday.
Kampala University which had lost to St. Lawrence University 1-2 in their home game on October 26 made an unanticipated return at the away ground to level the semi finial scores at 3-3 on aggregate.
In the game that was held on Friday, St. Lawrence University managed to obtain an early home goal that was netted by Oryem Simon. This goal was scored in the first half and ignited a glimmer of hope for the hosts.
However, a brace score by Kampala University’s Aleper John Bosco tarnished the hopes of St. Lawrence University and elated the fans of Kampala University. In fact, the team manager of Kampala University was sent back to the stands due to his escalating excitement that was disorganizing the game.
The game was ended with a leveled score of 3-3 and the referee blew the whistle for penalty shootouts to ensue.
Kampala University did not disappoint. The team won the game scoring 6 penalty shootouts whereas St. Lawrence University netted only 5 of them.
Kampala University students and morale boosters celebrated this victory. The two-time champions will go on to challenge Kyambogo University in the finals at Namboole stadium on November 11.
