Uganda Christian University (UCU) 1–1 Kumi University
Kumi University continued their resilient run in the Pepsi University Football League after holding Uganda Christian University (UCU) to a 1–1 draw in Mukono on Tuesday evening.
The visitors, known for their fighting spirit on the road, once again showed character as they picked up a crucial away point against one of the league’s seasoned sides.
UCU made an early statement when Harry Abiti opened the scoring in the 18th minute, smashing in a powerful effort that sent the home fans into celebration.
But Kumi responded swiftly — just eight minutes later, Saidi Muthir produced a stunning curling strike that left the UCU goalkeeper rooted to the spot, leveling the score at 1–1.
Kumi nearly took the lead in the 36th minute through Hamis Isabirye, whose thunderous shot was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the UCU custodian.
The visitors looked the more dangerous side towards the end of the first half, but luck deserted them as several chances went begging.
Five minutes after the restart, Peter Kyomuhendo rattled the woodwork with a long-range strike as Kumi continued to press for a lead.
UCU, urged on by their home crowd, pushed back with intent. Abiti came close again, narrowly missing the target after good build-up play from Isaac Ofoyrwoth, while Reagan Ssekisambu saw his effort deflected onto the frame before Kumi cleared their lines.
Despite a late surge from the hosts, the determined visitors held firm to secure a hard-earned point.
The result keeps Kumi University’s impressive away record intact and adds pressure on UCU, who were hoping for a home victory to climb the table.
