The Kyambogo University convocation in conjunction with the students guild is organizing the 3rd Kyambogo Marathon slated for the 22nd of October 2017 under theme “Running for assistive devices for students with disability” with the key objective of engaging the community on disability issues.
In a meeting held in the convocation office on Monday, it was agreed that that the subscription fee to this event is going to be shs5000 only and it was communicated that this marathon is going to be an avenue to mobilize and bring together the various stakeholders of Kyambogo to project a positive image of the university.
The meeting was chaired by the Convocation Secretary for Projects, Ms. Nansuwa Scovia in the presence of convocation members and the students guild members.
This year’s marathon is geared towards engaging the community in disability issues, given that Kyambogo is an inclusive institution which championed special needs education with a fully fledged faculty (UNISE) which has been visibly left out in the first and second marathon thus the idea.
Historically, this is going to be the first marathon of its kind after the first was held on the 2nd of November 2014 and the second held on the 1st November 2015. This marathon seeks to target the KYU community, neighbouring schools, alumni community, corporate organisations, fun runners, Processional runners and private, government institutions.
