Three top Liverpool FC youth coaches, working under the club’s international academy wing, have arrived in the country and will conduct a coaches’ session tomorrow in Kampala and thereafter embark on a 10-day programme with the kids between 5 and 12 years at the Lugogo Hockey grounds.
Andy Nicholas, the head of the soccer schools, said on arrival at Entebbe airport aboard Emirates: “We are excited to be here to discover another big football talent in Uganda,”
The other coaches who are here are; Craig Malley and Daniel Reece, who is a holder of a UEFA B licence and currently doing a UEFA A licence. Over the last couple of weeks, 480 kids registered for the camp, which will be the first of its kind by a top European club in Uganda.
“The football camp and visit of John Barnes between April 30 and May 2 will provide Vodafone Uganda an opportunity to connect with its customers and share their passion and interests,” said Mr Allan Richardson, the Vodafone Uganda CEO, at the launch recently.
John Barnes says the fundamental principle of the programme is to provide a unique Liverpool FC experience to local players both on and off the pitch.
