In a game played on Sunday at Makerere University football pitch between Uganda Christian University and Makerere, the Wandegeya based campus left with 3 points after winning 2-1. UCU’s Barigye Muzeifa scored their first goal few minutes after the first half had just kicked off.
A few minutes later, Makerere managed to scoop a penalty kick which was successfully scored by Abraham Tusubira, making it 1-1 until the end of the first half. UCU Opened the second half with a lot of energy but this did not give them any better results. About 20 minutes to the end of the game, Makerere’s David Onyango scored their winning goal after series of saves from UCU’s goal keeper.
Generally, UCU dominated the game with about 60% ball possession but they unfortunately lost to Makerere University. There was a lot of drama after Makerere scored their second goal when a Lumumba student ran away with the ball something that delayed the game. Apparently, Makerere usually uses this trick so that they can win by wasting time.
On the fun side of the game, Makerere University fans showed team spirit when they endured the heavy rains as the game was going on. With few of them standing under umbrellas, most of Makerere fans were spotted enduring the heavy downpour without any umbrellas.
