It was a fun-filled sports day at Kampala International School Uganda, (KISU) Bukoto as high schools tussled it out in the Victoria University High Schools Sports competition on Saturday 19th March 2016.
Mt. St. Marys Namagunga emerged the overall winner of the Victoria University High Schools Sports Competition. The event was driven on the Theme “Discover your Talent” with over 30 Schools invited.
Schools with both Girls and Boys sent in their Teams. Mt St Mary’s College Namagunga won 3 Trophies in Football, Volley Ball & Basket Ball.
Top Scorer in Football Ladies was Amanda Tusiime & Top Scorer Basket Ball also came from Namagunga. Namagunga took 3 Trophies, the Overall Trophy & a Bull. Schools and colleges that participated in the gala were; Mount St. Marys Namagunga, Turkish Light Academy, Naalya SSS, Ntinda View College, St. Maria Goreti High School, St. Michael Sonde, East High Ntinda, Entebbe Sec School among others.
TOURNAMENT OBJECTIVES
1. To identify and support talent from students;
2. To promote a health living amongst students through sports;
3. Develop friendship and cooperation between the participating Schools;
4. Develop good sportsmanship and behaviors amongst the players in schools;
5. Interact and share experiences among students;
6. To provide professional and career guidance to participating students.
The Guest of Honor Vice Chancellor Victoria University Dr. Stephen Robert Isabalija handed over a trophy to overall winners Mt St Mary’s Namagunga team of sports gala at Kampala International School Uganda.
He thanked everyone who participated adding that sport is one uniting and important activity in any institution of learning. He added that Victoria University is committed to supporting such activities and instill quality education to whoever wants it. The event was sponsored by Riham Soda and Harris International.
