Makerere University Business School [MUBS] on Saturday won a gold medal in the first ever East African Lacrosse championships after defeating Nakawa Panthers 5-1 in what seemed to be an intensive game at the Makerere Rugby Grounds.
MUBS goals were scored by Kenny Lubuz and Geoffrey Anywar who later attributed their win to team play and their goal keeper Okello James; “Minus our goal keeper we wouldn’t have this win,” MUBS captain Patrick Orianna told this reporter.
Panthers who became second, scooped silver and YMCA came in third position to win bronze.
The other teams that played were the U-19 Uganda men’s team versing Kenya which ended 9-2 in favor of the hosts Uganda.
When it came to the ladies, under 19-Kenya thumped Ugandans 3-1 Kevin Dugan the Lacrosse Operations Coordinator and Sponsor in Uganda said these games have set a stage for future formation of the East African Lacrosse Association that will see the game grow fast and perhaps feature in Olympics.
