Makerere University Business School soccer team made a record for being the first club to win the National Beach Soccer League thrice. In a game played on Sunday at Lido beach, the MUBS soccer team managed to defeat Muteesa 1 Royal University with 8-6 goals.
The Muteesa 1 Royal team was the initial leader of the game with a gap of two goals before MUBS managed to equalize with 6-6 in the second half. With two goals courtesy of Elvis Kasujja and Benson Ocen, MUBS managed to win the game in extra time and emerged as the new champions of the National Beach Soccer League.
However, the MUBS coach Charles Ayiekho thinks Muteesa 1 Royal team was better than his, most especially for this particular game. Ayiekho revealed that his team only scored important goals but Muteesa 1 boys played well. He, however, praised his team for using experience to beat their competitors no matter the conditions.
With only one and half minutes left, the MUBS captain Elvis Kasujja (defender) managed to score the winning goal making MUBS the first ever club to win the National beach soccer league three times. It should be noted that MUBS won this trophy in 2012, 2015 and now the current champions for 2017.
