The evening of Saturday 15th February 2020, was one of great and memorable moments at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) where the students, Guild leaders, lecturers and the entire (MUST) community were celebrating after their University football team compressed University of Kisubi (UniK) to grab it’s first win in the University football league (UFL) after nine years of participating.
The match that attracted thousands of spectators from the entire city of Mbarara ended 2-1 in favour of the host team. Agaba Lino was MUST’s hero for scoring a brace for the Ankole based University in the 15th and 34th minutes.
The sons of the brothers of Kisubi left the land of milk and honey (Mbarara) unhappy and disgruntled with the referee’s decisions for cancelling their goal in second half of the match saying they knocked the goal keeper of MUST.
When the matched was about to end UniK’s Coach Mr Allan Kabonge was sent off the pitch for boxing the linesman alleging him to be on MUST’s side. This action brought the game to a standstill for about 7 minutes when Mr Kabonge refused to get off the touch line until the police forcefully removed him.
MUST is now the group A leader after Kabale University beat Kyambogo yesterday in Kabale district.
