Nkumba University were yesterday crowned the 2016 University Beach Soccer champions clinching the title for a second time in a row. The Nkumba boys defeated former two-time champions Makerere University Business School 6-5 on Sunday to emerge champions of the 2016 edition that took place at Lido beach resort in Entebbe.
Nkumba University had been enjoying quite a remarkable run and with their consistent performance, their win didn’t come off as a surprise. The champions had enjoyed a winning streak humbling Muteesa 1 Royal University 9-5 in the quarters and also picking up a 8-5 vital win over St Lawrence University in the semi-finals.
Makerere University Business School didn’t walk away in shame but settled for silver at this year’s University Beach soccer edition. Their drive to the finals was characterized by earlier wins over YMCA(10-7) and Bishop Stuart University (5-1) in the quarters and semifinals respectively.
