As the University Football League returned to action yesterday, all roads led to the Maroons playground in Luzira. Away from the wordy drama and ‘war’ on social media, Makerere University and Kyambogo University took to the game of football to settle what scribes termed as a separation of the boys from men.
In an epic tie, Makerere University handed Kyambogo University their early loss humbling the Banda based side a 2-0 loss at the Maroons playground yesterday.
Makerere University’s talisman Lubwama Joshua netted a brace for Ddumba’s boys. He netted a penalty in the first half and later sealed the win in the extra minutes of the game with a flamboyant free-kick which he curled in the top right corner sending a deafening cheer from the wewe boys.
Kyambogo University had themselves to blame for the clear chances they had missed and their midfield which was left weakened by the formidable force fielded by the Makerere University side.
Action returns today as Uganda Martyrs take on Uganda Christian University at 2pm as the latter seek to revenge on the Nkozi side after a humiliating eviction from the quarter final eleven months back.
