Athletes from St Kisule Primary School, Muto Primary School Buwama and St Catherine Primary School converged at Kampala Parents School to take part in the Inter-schools football, netball and basketball competitions.
The youngsters vied for honors in football, netball and basketball at the Kampala Parents School sports complex. In football, Muto Primary School beat Kampala Parents School 4-3 on penalties in the semifinals to set up a meet in the final with St Kisule Primary School who earlier had defeated St Catherine. Muto went on to claim the title with a 2-0 win over St Kisuule.
Magaret Okwi, Kampala Parents School head of co-curriculum activities said such an event helps pupils to socialize, make friends and relax their minds. She added sports activities help pupils build their bodies to become physically fit.
Gerald Kawoya, a primary seven pupil at Muto Primary School said their success came because they work hard and teachers help them. Kibuuka Mugaga, Games Master and coach football team at Muto Primary School said unity at the school and training hard has been instrumental in their sporting success.
Daphne Kato, Principal Kampala Parents School in her address to the congregation said “We need to strengthen our relationship with other schools, we are all brothers and sisters. Teams like Muto Primary School have come from upcountry and have been able to interact with us. They defeated us and this builds their confidence. You have made us proud.”
