JEEMA defeats UPC one nil in the finals of the first ever interparty youth football league challenge which was hosted by Makerere University on Saturday at the Impis Rugby grounds. The champions of the match were crowned with a goat and a trophy.
Participants of the day emerged from different political parties namely: Conservative Party (CP), Democratic Party (DP), and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Justice Forum (JEEMA), National Resistance Movement (NRM), and People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC).
However, the two most influential parties FDC and NRM did not perform to their best as FDC was sent out at the semifinals following a one nil defeat from UPC. When it came to NRM it was worse, as it was knocked out with immediate effect in the group stages by PPP.
The event was organized by Konrad Adenauer stifttug under the theme, ‘advancing peace and tolerance through sports.’
“On this day Sports diplomacy has transcend political differences and brought politicians and youth from different parties together,” said the President of FDC Muntu Mugisha, who was there to witness as the teams battle it out alongside Asuman Basarirwa of JEEMA, and Geoffrey Kasumba of NRM.
