The defending champions of the Lacrosse independence cup MUBS were finally defeated by their rivals Panthers 8-1, for the first time in three years the panthers were crowned this year’s champions at their home in Nakawa.
12 teams from across the country made it to this year’s Independence Lacrosse cup that took place on Saturday, and these included MUBS who came in as the defending champions, Panthers, YMCA women and men, The Nile Zulus from Jinja, Masaka Hope school, Luzira, Nakawa, Naguru among others.
Teams tussled it out until when the winner was chosen and in the First place Men’s category was Panthers; MUBS came in second, YMCA third and the Zulus in fourth place.
In the other games played, YMCA dominated the women category to overcome Luzira Ladies by a 3-1 win hip in the finals to be crowned this year’s women Lacrosse independence cup champions.
