It’s been five years now ever since Katongole Kisembo a.k.a “Katso” succumbed to cancer in 2011, However this does not mean that he has been forgotten. Every year in a bid to pay homage and respect to a fallen hero, Impis rugby club organizes an event dubbed “Katso” memorial event” where they celebrate the life of Katongole Kisembo a former player and also a Makerere University Student.
Makerere Impis Rugby club players, fans and family all over the country came out in large numbers at their Impis rugby graveyard to celebrate the fifth annual Pre-season Katongole Kisembo memorial game on Sunday. The day was full of fun coupled with an interesting game.
On the same day the players also come out to spread word on cancer awareness and give remarks of their former teammate and friend during the memorial event.
“We evoke sacrifices of our fallen heroes in abstract but we seldom take time to thank them individually. Rest in Peace Katongole Kisembo,” a fellow move.
“We are here to celebrate five years since we lost our friend Kisembo, cheers Katongole, cheers Impis team,” Innocent Asiimwe a former Impis player who played alongside Katso before his death said.
