After hosting the Ugandan inter-University games that took place in December last year, Uganda Christian University was selected as the official host of the 9th Eastern African University games 2014. This comes after the university was recognized as ‘A Centre of Excellence in the Heart of Africa’, not only in education, but also in sports. The selection makes the University the first private institution to host these games.
The press launch took place at the university basketball arena on the 10th of July 2014 with His Grace Stanley Ntagali, Archbishop of the church of Uganda who also doubles as the Chancellor of the Mukono based University being the chief guest of the day.
The university is currently undergoing serious preparations for the games that will commence in December from the 16th -26th with over 40 universities from all over Eastern Africa expected to take part in over 17 disciplines of the games.
