UCU Lady Canons thump KCCA Leopards to win 2016 basketball championship

Uganda Christian University female basketball team-The UCU Lady Canons – recorded a victory after they thumped KCCA Leopards to be crowned basketball champions in the just concluded Pepsi National Basketball League.

The Lady Canons won their opponents 66 to 61 in a tightly marked game at the MTN Arena, Lugogo on Friday evening.

The power blackouts from UMEME could not stop the Champions from putting up a spirited fight at the game.

However, KCCA managed to produce the highest scorer S. Martha with 17 points, 9 from S. Martha, N. Muhaimina 15 points and 16 rebounds, 11 from A. Moreen and the other 5 from A. Rebecca and had a total of 10 assists.

UCU’s Ritah Imanshimwe emerged the top scorer on her team with 16 points, 13 from v. Achieng and 10 from J. Nansobya who also had 3 assists, 9 rebounds from V. Achieng, 7 from A. Annet and 6 from M. Rosine with 3 assists, 3 assists from A. Lokwameri.

Despite the stumbling blocks, The Lady Canons took the trophy home. Congratulations!
