Ndejje University and Uganda Christian University (UCU) main campus in Mukono have started strong in East Africa University games. Both Universities are jointly topping the medals table by three medals each from the on-going 9th Eastern Africa University games. All of UCU medals are from the wood ball sport.
Bbossa Bruno & Adupa Joel from Ndejje combined to register 113 to win Gold while Kamoga Collins & Ssekidde Denis also of Ndejje bagged 113 strokes to win silver while Okello Abednego & Ayebazibwe Emmanuel from UCU won Bronze in the men’s double.
Mukoova Joan & Nankabirwa Victoria and Nakato Cissy & Operu Viola both pairs from Ndejje won gold and silver respectively.
Natwijuka Bronia & Nuwahereza Mellon from Bishop Stuart walked away with bronze.
Ndejje continued with its winning strike as Kawumba Ronald & Zawedde Lillian won gold and Kasooba Ephraim & Akiteng Ruth Scovia earned silver as Busoga University’s Kagumaba Maurice & Nakidolo Ruth scooped bronze.
Lydia Chepkomoi of Moi University won the ladies 5,000M by after posting a time of 17:32:02.
She was followed by Faith Keitanyi of Kenyatta University registering a time of 17:53:00 and then Lillian Anziza from Bugema University Uganda running a time of 19:22:62.
Still in athletics, the men’s 10,000M were won by Joshua Cheptengai of Bugema University posting a time of 29:20:90, Mark Lokwanamo from MT Kenya University running a time of 30:46:26 and Sadik Bahati of Ndejje managing atime of 30:54:04.
Hockey kicked off at the Lugogo Stadium. United States International University (USIU) whipped, KISII 4-0. Maseno University held USIU in a goal less affair before another all Kenyan affair involving Strathmore and Jomo Kenyatta Universities ended in a goalless draw.
Eldoret University and Makerere University played to another goal-less draw.
Basketball continued with Kyambogo University winning by 8 baskets in their 38-30 over.
