Uganda Christian University (UCU) men’s and women’s teams booked a place in next year’s 3×3 University World Cup to be held in China.
The feat was attained after the two UCU teams won the 4th Africa 3×3 Basketball University Championship hosted by United States International University – Africa in the City of Nairobi, Kenya.
Federation of Africa University Sports organized the event that ran from 5th – 8th November 2021, with actual competition running for 2 days from 6th – 7th.
UCU Ladies’ team saw off ISEG from Senegal in the final with a 20-12 triumph. The former had thrashed Ugandan counterparts Makerere University 16-7 in the semi final.
The UCU men’s team outshone its strongest competitor, University of Zambia in the pre final match with a 21-11 score before wrapping the winning streak with a dominant display of 21-8 against Ndejje University in the final.
The two teams will represent Africa at the 3×3 University World Cup 2022, in Xiamen – China.
