Over the weekend, the Pepsi University Football League (UFL) entered into match day 3. On Friday 13th March 2020, Kyambogo University travelled to University of Kisubi (UniK) in Kisubi for their third group A match against UniK.
In the 25th minute of the first half, Daniel Odyek scored a goal for the visitors through his curl free kick at the near post that forced itself into the net. With only one minute to end the first half, Teanan Tugume doubled the lead for the visitors with a powerful header from the free kick. In the 78th and 89th minute of the game Ssekidde Robert and Nabansa Emma scored respectively to make it 4 nil in favor of Kyambogo University.
The action resumed yesterday (Sunday 15th march 2020) when Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) hosted the group leaders Kabale University in Mbarara. The game started with cheers from students who filled up the pitch to express their support to their boys.
However, this did not stop the Bakiga boys from resuming their scoring style. In the 9th minute Brian Twijukye scored his first goal for the visitors. 4 minutes later Arinitwe Boaz doubled the lead for the visitors due to poor communication in the MUST team.
In the next minutes of the game, MUST regained possession where in the 21st minute of first half Ambrose Atwiine’s strike from the edge of the box encouraged the hosts to make it 2-1. This inspired them and they realized that they could make it to at least a draw. They continued to play harder until in the 74th minute when God answered their prayers through Lino Agaba who scored to make it 2-2 which happened to be the final score.
Kabale University remained group A leaders with 7 points, followed by Kyambogo with 6 points, MUST in the third position with 4 points and lastly UniK with zero points.
Agaba Lino of MUST stayed the top scorer with 4 goals and he is the only player in this year’s UFL to score at least a goal in every game he has played for his team.
The action resumes today as Bishop Stuart University (BSU) hosts Makerere University Business School (MUBS) at Kakoba Mbarara.
