Nkumba University’s football team, known as the Beach Boys, is bracing itself for a crucial clash against Kampala University in the second leg of the University Football League (UFL) semifinals.
The highly anticipated match will take place today, Tuesday 2nd April, at Nkumba University’s home ground, the Beach Boys Arena, in Entebbe.
In a thrilling first-leg encounter held at Luzira last week, Nkumba University secured a narrow 1-0 away victory against Kampala University, courtesy of a 12th-minute own goal by Kampala University’s Ndase Tony.
The hard-fought win provided the Beach Boys with a crucial advantage as they seek to advance to the UFL finals.
Looking ahead to the return leg fixture, Prof. Jude Lubega, the Vice-Chancellor of Nkumba University, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to maintain their winning momentum and secure another victory on home turf.
He commended the players for their courageous performance in the previous match and rallied support from the entire university community.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire team for your brave display on the field during our 1-0 victory last week,” Prof. Lubega remarked.
“As you prepare for the second leg at our home ground, know that the entire University community stands behind you. Let’s continue to strive for excellence and bring home the championship, I Owe You.”
The clash between Nkumba University and Kampala University holds significant importance for both institutions, as they vie for the opportunity to clinch the UFL title for the first time in a while.
With the stakes higher than ever, the match promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, determination, and sportsmanship.
