Airtel Uganda in partnership with FUFA and Nile Special, rolled out the national team’s new campaign in this New Year aimed at reaching the grassroots fans and appreciating the regional local teams. The regional tours comprise of a selected regional or local team playing against the Uganda Cranes in a friendly match.
Speaking about the cranes new campaign, Noela Byuma Airtel Uganda Brand Assets and properties manager said “The new campaign is dubbed “Mujje Tulumbe” (loosely translated “let’s attack”). We are in the final leg of the AFCON qualifiers and now is the time to leave no stones unturned. The time to make history is now, let’s attack and win”.
Last year we had “Tufiirwawo” which was a success. We had very many exciting games at Namboole and away that the Uganda Cranes excelled at. We also had the start of the regional tours that kicked off in Masindi in September which was also another huge success. I can confidently say the Uganda Cranes are on the way to make history this year from the vigorous preparations they have gone through she added.
The 23 select national team players will be comprised of mostly local based players. Seven are debutants, they are 3 senior players included on the team. Due to Hassan Wasswa’s performance in his new Iraq based club, he is also back on the national team. This friendly match against the west Nile select will test his form.
The cranes will set off on Friday for West Nile tour and the game is going to be played on Saturday 12th March in Arua town at Onduparaka playground starting at 4pm.
