GULU: It will forever be taken to book that on the on Friday September 22nd, Gulu town saw two of Uganda’s representatives at the East African University Games 2016 lock horns in this season’s University Football League.
The defending champions, Kampala University (KU) who came with all the city swag and bravado giants like Bayern hold before trouncing village teams like Arsenal had a sloppy first half going for the break trailing to a solitary effort by Gulu university captain, Acire John Paul.
The epic encounter characteristic of a cooling break due to excessive heat in the Northern city ended 2-1 to the hosts, GU. The man of the match then made it two in the second half before Mwesigwa Cyrus (KU) pulled one back for the wasteful visitors.
This leaves Gulu University at 10 points after 5 games with a journey to the YMCA Comprehensive Institute still to make. Kampala University will be facing off Bugema University to see who pushes it to the quarter finals from this open group.
