Stereotyping women when it comes to certain jobs is not the thing with millennials anymore. The babes and dudes of our generation are daring- they can do the least jobs you expect of them- diligently- including women coaching a soccer team! Yes, you read that right.
As both Busitema and KU players and fans wait for their encounter next week, we bring you Busitema University’s coach, Dorothy Namongyeyi a first-year female student who assumed office in March this year.
Many girls at campus still fear to unleash the beast in them for their beauty; some are even scared to get involved in soccer thinking they will get dumped by their boyfriends or looked at as tomboys…. However, to Namongyeyi a first-year student pursuing a degree in business administration at the Palisa based Busitema campus, engaging in football is like any other thing that both men and women can do!
“I have had a passion for soccer since childhood. The good thing is that all the players give me respect and believe in my tactics. They don’t really undermine me,” she says.
She, therefore, defied the odds and got herself a slot to train the men’s soccer team at Busitema which is currently playing in the group stages of the University Football league.
Busitema is to race KU next week on Wednesday but because Busitema lost 1-2 in the first encounter at Busitema, Namongyeyi is coming back with a lot of pressure if her team is to move on to the next stage. She needs not less than two goals. We wish her all the best.
“I believe in my players. I love their positive attitude and I am sure we shall get the positive results.” She adds.
