Zoom, Coursera, and Adobe: how students in Uganda can pay for international services

Paying in dollars from African countries is still complicated, even in 2026. Local banks often decline international transactions, charge currency conversion fees, or simply block purchases without explanation. On the other side, foreign platforms may reject payments because they flag them as high risk based on their origin. As a result, students can’t access services like Zoom, Coursera, or Adobe. This makes everyday life harder and negatively affects the learning process.

In this article, we’ll break down how to deal with this issue and explore which international payment options are available for students and school learners in Uganda. All of these services can be used directly from a mobile phone.

  1. PSTNET

PSTNET provides virtual cards designed specifically for online transactions. These cards can be used to pay for digital advertising, platform subscriptions, and purchases from e-commerce websites. The service offers several card options tailored to different purposes. For advertising campaigns, users can choose cards that include cashback benefits. For everyday spending, there is a universal virtual payment card known as the Ultima card.

The Ultima card supports 3D Secure authentication and can be used anywhere Visa or Mastercard payments are accepted. When it comes to covering expenses for educational platforms, this 3d secure virtual dollar card is one of the most practical solutions available.

There are no charges for transactions, withdrawals, or actions involving blocked cards. Users can make their first USDT deposit without paying any commission. Account funding is available through various cryptocurrencies, traditional bank transfers, or transfers from any Visa or Mastercard. Funds are initially credited to the internal account balance and can then be allocated to a specific card. New users are allowed to add their first USDT deposit free of charge.

Registration is available through Google, Telegram, WhatsApp, Apple ID, or email. After signing in, users complete a straightforward KYC verification. Once verified, they can add funds and generate a card based on their needs. Security standards are optimized for online payments, combining 3D Secure technology with two-factor authentication to safeguard user data.

Customer assistance is available around the clock through Telegram and additional communication channels. The platform also provides bot alerts and multiple card formats for specific use cases, helping users organize and monitor expenses efficiently. A mobile application and a dedicated card management system make it convenient to oversee even a large portfolio of cards.

Revolut

Revolut is a financial technology platform widely recognized for simplifying multi-currency money management. Users can create virtual cards, hold multiple currencies within a single account including USD, EUR, and many others, and complete online payments using real-time exchange rates. On weekdays, currency exchange is processed without additional fees, which makes it particularly advantageous for recurring international transactions and payments for educational platforms.

All operations are handled inside the mobile app. After each transaction, the system sends real-time spending notifications, making it easier to monitor expenses. For additional protection, single-use virtual cards are available for one-time online payments. Revolut cards can also be connected to Apple Pay and Google Pay for contactless mobile transactions.

Spend.net

Spend.net provides virtual debit cards with a cashback program for online purchases and media buying. Card issuance itself does not involve a fee.

These virtual cards are suitable for subscription services, digital platforms, and general e-commerce. Every transaction generates 1% cashback automatically. This can be useful when paying for expensive courses or long subscription periods.

While Spend.net does not offer a separate mobile application, its web interface is optimized for smartphones. Through the personal dashboard, users can create new cards, analyze spending data, and download transaction records. Customer support is accessible at any time through live chat.

The pricing model is straightforward. Payments and withdrawals are processed without hidden charges, and users can choose a preferred commission structure when adding funds. All operations are protected by 3D Secure verification.

Account creation is available via Google authentication or email registration. After logging in, users may deposit funds using cryptocurrencies such as USDT or BTC. Once the balance is credited, there is no limit on the number of virtual cards with cashback that can be issued.

Final thoughts

Students in Uganda can access the same international educational platforms as learners in other countries. The main task is selecting a payment solution that works reliably. Virtual cards offered by fintech providers are often the simplest way to pay for Zoom, Coursera, Adobe, and similar services.

Before choosing a provider, review the fee structure, funding methods, and identity verification requirements. It makes sense to open accounts with several services, test small transactions, and continue using the one that performs consistently and matches your needs.
