Campus Bee has reliably established that during their special meeting held today morning, Makerere University Senate resolved to reschedule the 71st graduation ceremony which was slated to happen in March 2021.
According to Ezra Byakutangaza, the Makerere University Acting Guild President, the ceremony will be held on 10th May 2021.
The university’s academic registrar Mr. Alfred Masikye Namoah recently communicated that they will hold their 71st graduation ceremony from Tuesday 16th March 2021 to Friday 19th March 2021 (two weeks from now).
This Campus news website has further learnt that the university decided to postpone the ceremony over missing marks, unpreparedness as two weeks from now are not enough for them to compile a final graduation list.
Our Souces have further established that the university will also not be able to hold the ceremony as the administrators are still recovering from the effects of COVID-19- hence the unpreparedness.
Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the Makerere University Vice Chancellor recently told Campus Bee that they plan to hold a partly virtual graduation ceremony which would have few students attend physical while others follow the proceeding on zoom and other streaming platforms.
