Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the Makerere University Vice Chancellor has this morning informed Campus Bee that the university’s 71st graduation ceremony will be partially virtual. Being partially virtual means that a few graduands will be invited to attend the graduation physically while majority will follow the activity on zoom and other streaming platforms.
The Makerere 71st graduation ceremony is slated to run from 16th to 19th March 2021, according to Mr. Alfred MasikyeNamoah, the Academic Registrar. Graduation lists will be displayed in collages from 8th to 12th February 2021 and the final graduation booklet will be ready on February 26th 2021.
The graduation lists will be submitted to the academic registrar on 15th February 2021 while recess examination results are expected to be ready by 1st February 2021.
On whether finalists will report this weekend, Prof Nawangwe disclosed that the university is still waiting for instructions from the Ministry of Education, which is expected today, 1st February 2021.
“Our plan was for finalists to report this weekend, but we await further instructions from the Ministry of Education, hopefully today. The finalists of last academic year will graduate in March this year. Plans are underway for this ceremony, which will be conducted partially virtually.” Nawangwe told Campus Bee.
Universities like Cavendish and KIU invited only first class and best performing students to attend the ceremony physical while observing social distancing. Makerere University is yet to decide the criteria they will use to invite a few graduands to physically attend the 71st graduation ceremony.
We will keep you posted!
