I was really touched when I saw her crying – and the word ‘really’ probably adds nothing but emphasis to the fact that I was not actually moved by that scene and so I am evoking unnecessary and plastic feelings in myself. I am not a particularly intimate person and issues of the heart are so blurred in my unenviable life that my imagination of a woman that can resurrect the erstwhile Romeo in me is fictitious even to me.
She will have to be a pretty little thing with long curvy hair and star shinning eyes, wasp waisted but downwardly blessed with flesh large enough to give refugee to me in case I need to hide.
Doesn’t seem real, does it?
In this case, my roommates main girl had it all. Every time she smiled at him, I would stand back, pause and first admire her well applied make-up. Her laugh was something in between a ticklish feeling and that hollow wind of death that blows your soul; and takes you back to that feeling when your crush seems to realize you exist and either texts you a “hello” out of the blue.
My roommate’s relationship is what you would, for lack of a better word, call dramatic. Usually, when your girl catches you cheating the response is predictable. She snaps and gets emotional. She cries and the tear takes so long to dry off her cheek and says words like;
“Oh my God! You lied to me.”
“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”
But even then, 90% of the time, she doesn’t mean what she says because it’s said in the moment.
The ‘girl‘ in my roommates life is different. I highlighted girl because they are actually many girls in his life but there is this one girl that I am so sure is the main one. Not that he has told me but through observation and connection of events. She is the one that even I enjoy having around.
Whenever she comes, there is always a tight hug for him and a hug for me. Meanwhile, If you are a girl and come to see my roommate but give me a handshake or just say hi, there are 100% chances that you are a side chic.
You are also a side chic if you find unwashed dishes around and pretend you haven’t seen them.
So here’s how it all started. My roommate was cuddling with a woman in his bed and (as usual) I was on mine cock-blocking – with no intention of giving them space. A sharp knock was heard and there is always no better time for me to open the door.
I run forth and behold, it was Main Girl. I didn’t have to ask, I had to come up with a lie to send her off, that’s when I said I was with a girl and that she (MG) should leave. She took it for a bad joke (i think I wasn’t so convincing) and pushed the door open – revealing her guy on the bed cuddled up with another girl. I at that moment knew a Civil War was inevitable.
She just entered and sat on my bed without saying a word. When he (my roommate) had escorted the other girl and come back, I was warming up to referee the “Fight of the semester” but the situation was unusually calm.
I was therefore not ‘really’ touched when I went out only to return and find her crying in his arms. Not that I encourage violence, but why would you not remove two or more teeth from the mouth of such a guy? Why would you let love torture you this much?
It is after she had gone that he told me they have come up with an agreement. Main girl decided that since she happens to be holding him on wait for all this time, therefore for some strange reason gave him a guilt-free pass to cheat. He can therefore, apparently, get what she cannot provide from someone else of his choice without jeopardizing their relationship.
Now I wish I were this guy.
